Charitable Giving

Carolinas Rehad staffWith the most comprehensive collection of subspecialists in the Southeast, Carolinas Rehabilitation serves as the regional referral center for patients with catastrophic injuries.

Our team of highly skilled professionals provide advanced, customized care that enhances each patient's recovery. We strive to achieve a three-fold mission:

  • To care for people with disabilities.
  • Offer specialized training for physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Conduct original research to minimize the impact of disabling illnesses and trauma.

As a not-for-profit hospital, we rely on charitable giving and philanthropic support. Thanks to our supporters' generosity, we are able to continue to provide exceptional care to our patients. Donations from our community help us fund clinical programs, research efforts, technological advancements as well as purchase equipment.

Carolinas Rehabilitation has established three funds to support various areas of our organization.

  • Adaptive Sports and Adventures (ASAP) Fund: This fund helps to support the ASAP Program which offers outdoor recreation and sports activities for disabled youth and adults. Activities include sailing, water skiing, wheelchair basketball, hand cycling, snow skiing, rugby and much more. Read more about ASAP.
  • Carolinas Rehabilitation Fund: This fund provides annual support of special professional education opportunities for our nursing and therapy staff. It also provides funding for patient/family support and community outreach activities.
  • W. Duke Kimbrell Rehabilitation Research Endowment: Initiated in 2009 with a $300,000 "challenge" pledge from W. Duke Kimbrell, Chairman of Parkdale Mills in Gastonia, this Endowment advances ground-breaking research programs conducted by our faculty physicians. Currently, all gifts to the Endowment are being matched 100 percent by the W. Duke Kimbrell Family Foundation. Learn more about the important research being conducted by our faculty.

You may also donate without specifying a fund, allowing Carolinas Rehabilitation to use the funds where the need is greatest.
