There is evidence that persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI) have more difficulty recognizing emotions in others than persons without TBI. Impaired affect recognition is cause for concern because it has been linked with inappropriate behavioral responses, unsuccessful interpersonal interactions and poor social outcomes. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of two treatments we designed to improve emotion recognition in persons with TBI. This is a randomized control trial that is funded by the National Institute of Disability Rehabilitation Research.
